University of Florida Seek Assistant Professor of Freshwater Ecology

The University of Florida has a new 9-month tenure-accruing position that will be 60% teaching and 40% research. This position will be located at the UF Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences facility in NW Gainesville with access to extensive laboratory and field facilities. The candidate will teach two courses per year (“Freshwater Ecology – Applied Limnology” and “Water for the Future”), team-teach two courses per year, and develop and teach one graduate course related to their area of expertise. Teaching will be in support of the undergraduate Marine Science major and Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences minor, and the Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences graduate program. The successful candidate will develop a research program addressing the ecology of benthic organisms and their interactions in freshwater systems, including growing threats such as: invasive exotic organisms, climate change, and habitat change. Tenure will accrue in the School of Forest Resources and Conservation. This assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the unit.
 
A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Ecology, Biology, Zoology, Entomology, Limnology, Fisheries, or a closely related discipline is required. Appointment is contingent upon completion of all doctoral requirements by the beginning date of the position (August 2019). Candidates should have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationships, and procurement of extramural funding. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system.
 
 
 
This position is available August 2019 and will be filled as soon thereafter as an acceptable applicant is available.
Compensation is commensurate with the education, experience, and qualifications of the selected applicant.
