As the Director Regional R&D Crop Protection, you will be responsible
for the general management of R&D operations related to biological product
performance and affiliated programs to support and achieve commercialization
of BASF Crop Protection and Seed Treatments development opportunities and
regional brand extensions in the USA and Canada.

As the Director Regional R&D Crop Protection, you will be responsible for the general management of R&D operations related to biological product performance and affiliated programs to support and achieve commercialization of BASF Crop Protection and Seed Treatments development opportunities and regional brand extensions in the USA and Canada. You will serve as part of the North American Executive Leadership team and ensure the satisfactory management of a large regional biology project portfolio transitioning through the R&D lifecycle leading to successful regional product launches and deal with a broad variety of technical issues from chemical storage to trial results and innovation opportunities.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Formula for Success
Leveraging your educational background in Life Sciences and your progressive experience in Agricultural or Life Sciences R&D, you will integrate and implement the annual North American Regional R&D program ensuring that R&D efforts, enable the BASF innovation and sustainability strategy, are allocated in proportion to strategic business priority, and adhere to budget and time-line targets
- Your ability to build cross functional teams and deliver innovative and sustainable solutions will serve you well as you assure that customer-centric practices and methods are conducted within the R&D framework via close collaboration with the Technical/Sales and Marketing organization
- You will assure that R&D endeavors and conclusions align to the BASF Code of Conduct, EH&S guidance, applicable laws, and State and Federal regulations. As one who is experienced working within a global matrixed environment, you will ensure the satisfactory management of a large regional biology project portfolio transitioning through the R&D lifecycle and leading to successful regional product launches
We will rely on you to secure, protect, and exploit BASF inventions and intellectual property opportunities derived through internal efforts and third-party collaborations
You will issue judgments and direction relative to project continuance or termination as based on technical results, expected customer benefit, business expectations, and with the concurrence of project sponsors. We will tap into your ability to manage projects across multiple locations as you drive strategic projects and initiatives that support mid and long-term AP goals in research (pipeline) efficiency/effectiveness, post- patent technical defense, cross-regional and cross-division collaborations, merger and acquisition, in-license of 3rd party technology, and new business development
- You will have responsibility for the oversight of 3rd party research investments with over 100 entities, operational fixed costs, staff development, talent management, and succession planning for R&D personnel
