About Us
Community Greening is an urban forestry non-profit based in Palm Beach County that has planted more than 8,000 trees with 4,500 volunteers since 2016. Community Greening is a member of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Alliance for Community Trees, a group of community-based organizations dedicated to the planting and caring of trees. Programming includes tree plantings at parks, schools, right of ways, urban orchards, tree giveaways and the Youth Tree Team.
 
Community Greening envisions an engaged community creating sustainable urban green spaces and a vibrant tree canopy to equitably strengthen our environment, economy, society, and health.

Duties and responsibilities:
1. With direction and support from the Co-Founders, manage all urban forestry projects and oversee the successful completion of all Community Greening tree plantings and giveaways
2. Supervise and manage tree technicians and volunteers
3. Manage vehicles, trailers, and tools, includes inventory and maintenance
4. Manage Community Greening nursery and track inventory
5. Manage nursery relationship: reserve trees at nurseries, maximize quality, price, species diversity, coordinate purchasing and delivery of nursery stock
6. Manage tree maintenance and watering schedules
7. Implement planting projects in accordance with grants and contracts and monitor results
8. Manage data related to tree inventory and environmental benefits
9. Manage and track all projects and create final reports
10. Approve tree planting plans and make recommendations for appropriate species and landscape material
 
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Education: BS (MS preferred) degree in natural resources, urban forestry, forestry, horticulture or related discipline, or an equivalent amount of education and experience
2. Minimum of 1 year experience in urban forest management, ornamental horticulture, or forestry or related field
3 years’ plus experience preferred
3. Certification: International Society of Arboriculture certified arborist credential or the ability to obtain credential within three years of appointment
4. Driving: Valid Florida driver’s license with clean driving record and the ability to pull a trailer
5. Knowledgeable about Florida tree species and ecology
6. Computer: Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
7. Budgeting: Experience formulating and adhering to set project budgets
8. Ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively
9. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment that requires repetitive bending, lifting, and shoveling
10. Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions
