Queer Forestry Crew (LGBTQ+ inclusion) - Sequoia National Park Fuels Reduction Crew
We seek AmeriCorps Crew Members (4) to work on fuels reduction in Sequoia National Park during the fall of 2021.
The Queer Forestry Crew will use chainsaws and hand tools to create a shaded fuel break in and around the Big Stump Grove. Fuels will be piled and prepped for prescribed burn. The primary goal is to reduce the wildland fuel load and change the fuel arrangement along the park boundary. The treatment will provide protection and defensible space for the giant sequoia grove, numerous cultural resource sites, and the Big Stump picnic area. This defensible space will provide for public, firefighter, and resource safety. Members will report to Sequoia National Park and will be provided with permanent developed camping for both on and off time.
