OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
 
Our top-rated summer internship program is designed to give college students relevant work experience in specific functions, providing a deeper understanding of the processes of a Fortune 500 organization. The program offers interesting challenges, valuable experience, and an opportunity to get to know Thrivent. This 12-week internship is a key piece of Thrivent’s entry-level talent program to ensure a strong talent pipeline to meet the needs of the organization now and into the future. The internship program offers assignments to refine your skills and experience while giving you exposure to multiple business areas.
 
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Our Information Security Internship Program gives our interns work within the IT environment, providing a hands-on experience and real-world experience with a variety of systems. You will learn to understand and apply Thrivent's security policies, standards and processes to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Thrivent information and information systems.
 
As a member of the Information Security Assurance and Governance Services team, the Security Awareness Intern will be responsible for assisting with processes related to security awareness, including developing company-wide communications, developing awareness materials, and assisting with the execution of training activities, such as company-wide phishing simulations. The Security Awareness Intern will have the opportunity to blend technical skills and understanding with marketing and graphic design skills.
 
  • You will build creative technical solutions to pursue complex problems

  • Approach all problems and projects with a high level of integrity, objectivity, and an open mind to new ideas and solutions

  • Assist with the development of targeted and company-wide communications related to security activities, events, and initiatives.

  • Assist with the development of training programs and curricula.

  • Partner with subject matter experts to create awareness materials such as infographics, websites, and other promotional materials.

  • Participate in active project(s) to gain meaningful experience in a specialized domain within information security, such as identity and access management, security awareness, policies and standards, responding to cybersecurity incidents or engineering cybersecurity systems

  • Showcase projects and key findings to senior leadership

 
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently a junior in an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Cybersecurity, Marketing, Graphic Design or related degree program.

  • Previous experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, Information Security Policies and Awareness, Application Security, Network Security, Systems Security, Access Administration and Monitoring, Policy and Awareness, and/or Forensics

  • Basic/Intermediate experience in marketing, communications, graphic design, or human behavior a plus

  • A proven history of excellent academic performance (GPA 3.0+)

  • Disciplined, with strong personal management and organization skills

  • Strong problem identification and analytical skills

  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills

  • A proven teammate with high technical capability

  • Open to intern in our offices full-time during normal business hours

  • Ability to work in the United States for indefinite period without sponsorship

  • Offering competitive compensation

  • Full intern event program including development, networking, and social activities.

  • Interns coming from greater than 50 miles from school or home location are eligible for a relocation stipend.
