POSITION DESCRIPTION
Purpose:

The University of California (UC) seeks a highly motivated individual with exceptional professional and academic qualifications, and academic record, to serve as Vice Provost of Academic Personnel and Inclusive Excellence for the University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR). The successful applicant will provide leadership to support the success of academic personnel, while advancing UC’s efforts in diversity, equity and inclusion.


This position will work to create a vision for UC ANR with the aim of positively impacting the recruitment, career progression, retention, and experience of academic and staff personnel. The incumbent will be a visionary and strategic changemaker who is ready to take on opportunities and challenges in a complex environment.


This position will work with colleagues and stakeholders to constructively challenge and address institutional culture, policies, and practices to better meet ANR's public mission goals by leading organizational change, creating transparency in reporting, defining shared metrics, and reviewing policies through an equity lens to implement best practices.


This position will serve on key committees that inform policies and structures that promote academic success and rigor, support engagement of diverse constituent groups and consider the impacts of decisions on underserved, underrepresented, and protected class groups.


This position will ANR accountable for providing programs, resources, and services that lead to access and opportunities for academics and staff personnel; remove institutional barriers to pathways toward successful leadership and advancement.
The Vice Provost of Academic Personnel and Inclusive Excellence is a key member of a combined leadership team, including the Vice Provost of Strategic Initiatives and Statewide Programs, the Vice Provost of Research and Extension, and the Associate Vice President. This senior leader is the liaison to UC ANR’s Academic Assembly Council as well as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Council.
