Job Description 

The Nutrition Outreach Manager plans and organizes programs in support of achieving the priorities of the Health and Wellness team. The Nutrition Outreach manager builds relationships with influential health & wellness professionals by leveraging key dairy science to demonstrate dairy’s essential role in a healthy lifestyle and sustainable food systems. Use partners reach and relationships to work directly with health and wellness providers and reputational thought leaders to provide trainings, support, and nutrition education resources to teach the importance of nutrition and inspire trust in dairy.

 

Full Job Description

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and executes nutrition strategy for key customer segments. Implements assigned nutrition marketing programs as part of a cross-functional team to support long-term trust in the dairy category and incremental sales of dairy products.
  • Identify and develop a nutrition marketing plan targeted to Pediatric Healthcare Professionals.
  • Identifies key influencers and develops messages in collaboration with colleagues to assure consistency of communication to target audiences in support of dairy recommendations.
  • Develops relationships with thought leaders in key segments and identifies potential spokespeople for UDIM.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with consultants, professional and community organizations, academics, and government agencies. Serves on committees for health and wellness organizations and participates in planning conferences, continuing education activities or other similar endeavors. Plan and execute UDIM participation in professional conferences and other external partner events to positively impact outcome.
  • Manages health and wellness providers and key thought leader nutrition marketing projects with close attention to driving results.
  • Utilizes both traditional and social media channels to communicate positive dairy stories and dairy-related nutrition issues to target audiences.
  • Serves as nutrition and wellness content manager to develop impactful nutrition materials and programs for use with multiple audiences.
  • Builds for the future by working with colleges and universities to educate future health and wellness professionals on key topics important to dairy. Develops presentations and programs to engage students and instructors.
  • Recruits, trains, and manages students and consultants to work on key UDIM projects as needed.
  • Serve as Project Manager by writing and implementing Project Charters to assure all team members are well informed, timelines are met, and evaluations completed. Analyze project evaluations and outcomes to influence future programs and strategy.
  • Participates in program planning, development, and evaluation by sharing and exchanging information at program meetings and seeking opportunities to collaborate and leverage resources and assets.
  • Stays current with information related to nutrition, dairy foods, health and wellness and consumer marketing information.
  • Maintains program and contact records using required statistical and narrative reports in accordance with policy manual and association procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

Degree from an accredited college or university in nutrition or related field with nutrition emphasis is required. RDN preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Must have minimum 3 years’ experience delivering nutrition education or marketing programs.
  • Experience in a nutrition communications/education and/or marketing environment is preferred.
  • Nutrition expertise; need to possess a solid understanding of the nutrition landscape.​
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience working with academically, culturally, racially, and socio-economically diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to make dynamic and informative public speaking presentations and media interviews
  • Good problem-solving skills and sound judgment are essential.  Articulate and effective oral and written skills are required.  Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, consistent and concise manner, and provide responses in a timely fashion.
  • High level of ethics, assertiveness, leadership, and diplomacy that will promote good relations with all levels of management and external partners. Good interpersonal skills are essential. The individual must be able to function effectively as a planner, team player, coordinator, communicator, and an expert.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, social media platforms and with computers in general
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license and be willing to travel using various forms of transportation. Work responsibilities may require overnight stays or attendance of business meetings several days in duration.
  • Must be willing to carry smart phone to keep in contact for emergency situations and keep up to date with email communication.
  • Must be able to perform physical requirements which may include: ability to lift over 35 pounds, sitting for long periods of time, using hands to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing. Employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance and to stoop and kneel. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
