expand its expertise in avian genetic engineering research by hiring a talented Assistant,
Associate or Full Professor. The incumbent will collaborate closely with the faculty in the
Division of Animal Sciences of the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources
(https://animalsciences.missouri.edu/). This position is also critical to the MU-USDA ARS
Livestock Genetic Engineering Program and NextGen Precision Health initiative in the
University of Missouri System (https://precisionhealth.umsystem.edu/). We expect the
incumbent to bring a synergistic effect by collaborating with our existing livestock genome
editing researchers in the Division of Animal Sciences (MU Livestock Engineering Team
https://cafnrfaculty.missouri.edu/muleteam/). The University of Missouri is an AAU
member, Carnegie R1 institution, and one of the most comprehensive land grant
universities in the nation that includes agriculture, human medicine, and veterinary
medicine. A competitive start-up package, excellent facilities, and ample opportunities for
collaboration across the campus, system and state underscore the attractive nature of this

service on campus, and contribute to undergraduate and/or graduate education. The
desired focus of the research is on avian genetic engineering research to enhance the
genetic value of avian species, availability of avian models, and our understanding of genes
relevant to avian growth, development and disease resistance. The individual is expected to
develop and apply novel genome editing technologies to benefit avian production. The
successful candidate will be expected to develop or possess a robust, collaborative,
externally funded research program.
