Position Summary
The incumbent directs research programs utilizing a unique Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) Plant Pathogen Containment Facility to study new and emerging plant diseases to prevent their potential establishment in the United States and destructiveness to major crops, forests, and the environment.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Foreign Disease Weed Science Research Unit located in Frederick, Maryland, is seeking a permanent Supervisory Research Plant Pathologist/Research Molecular Biologist (Plants). The salary for this position is $122,530.00 -$172,500.00 per annum plus benefits. U.S. citizenship is required. The incumbent in this position will be the Unit’s Research Leader and will direct programs to study new and emerging plant diseases to prevent their potential establishment in the United States and destructiveness to major crops, forests, and the environment. The ideal candidate has experience researching plant diseases to prevent their potential destructiveness to major crops, forests, and the environment.
