Position Summary
The incumbent’s research will contribute to the ARS National Program, Crop Production and National Program, Soil and Air through Stewardship of Upper Midwest soil and air resources through regionally adapted management practices.
The USDA, ARS, North Central Soil Conservation Research Laboratory in Morris, MN is seeking a Research Agronomist focused on weed management. The incumbent’s research will contribute to the ARS National Program, Crop Production and National Program, Soil and Air through Stewardship of Upper Midwest soil and air resources through regionally adapted
management practices. The incumbent plans and executes research aimed at developing novel cropping systems based upon sound integrated weed management and weed ecology principles that may include winter cover crops, reduced tillage, and rotations.
 
Research should integrate new and alternative crops that diversify traditional Midwest crops. The incumbent conducts individual and collaborative team research at multiple scales; collaborates with Unit and other ARS, university, and private sector scientists to achieve objectives; supervises a technician, operates/maintains a laboratory, and plot to field-scale experiments to fulfill objectives; and analyzes, interprets, and disseminates findings in scientific peer-reviewed journal articles, presentations, and reports.
